ACT’s aluminium welding-fume standard commenced on September 9

ACT’s aluminium welding-fume standard commenced on September 9. Coverage, dates and source evidence for EHS teams.

October 7, 2026

ACT adopted the November 2025 workplace exposure standards list from September 9, 2026. The signed NI2026-340 declaration, made July 14, identifies the list and revokes the earlier 2024 declaration. The current register confirms its in-force status and substantive commencement.

WorkSafe ACT’s August 19 alert identifies the resulting aluminium welding-fume reduction from 5 to 1 mg/m³ as an eight-hour time-weighted average. The declared list expresses that value as aluminium and uses the default inhalable basis for gravimetric TWA entries unless another fraction is specified.

The ACT aluminium adoption record connects the local date with the national change. November 17, 2025 is the national-list revision milestone; September 9, 2026 is the verified ACT implementation date reported here.

Review assessment records under the declared list

APT’s practical interpretation is to identify aluminium welding activities in the workplace assessment and check the fraction and analytical expression used in existing results. An aluminium welding-fume result and a total welding-fume mass result need to be interpreted on their stated bases.

The declaration establishes the local list adoption. It does not prescribe a new universal monitoring interval or certify the effectiveness of a particular ventilation arrangement. Site decisions still require the applicable ACT duties, the relevant task and a technically appropriate assessment, including any working-hours adjustment.
