New or revised ACGIH recommendations published in June 2026 were added to WorkSafeBC’s excluded-substances table for review. The regulator’s notice explains that the existing British Columbia exposure limits continue until the Board decides whether to adopt changes.
The notice includes nitric acid and o-toluidine among the listed substances. It describes a review process involving health evidence, validated sampling methods and stakeholder consultation. A new ACGIH recommendation can therefore appear alongside an unchanged provincial requirement.
The 2026 provincial review record retains this distinction. WorkSafeBC’s exposure-limit framework and the current policy table provide the routes for checking the applicable entry.
Record the reason a value remains in use
APT’s practical interpretation is to include the provincial source and its review status in an exposure register. A new reference-library edition should trigger a check of WorkSafeBC’s excluded table before the workplace comparison value is changed.
The recommendations are identified as the June 2026 batch. An exact notice publication day was not verified. Mines Act workplaces require their own applicable adoption source. The relevant sector and governing law need to remain attached to each assessment.
